A Lifetime of Learning

I bow before You, O God of Wisdom, for You have said that if I lacked wisdom, I can ask and You would share Yours with me.  I know that regardless of how old I become, I still have a lot to learn.  Even though I may have learned a lot through life’s experiences, I understand that I’m never through learning and You have much yet to show me.  As a citizen of Your Kingdom, I must strive for both intellectual and spiritual growth in order to become successful.  I can be assured of an increase in Godly Wisdom if I commit to reading and meditating on Your Word on a regular basis.  Such a commitment is an indication of the extent to which I am willing to allow You to direct my life.  As a Christian, I have the potential to grow in my knowledge of Your ways and benefit from the things I learn.  My ability to learn depends on how often I pray, how open my heart is to what You have to say, how willing I am to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and how dependent I am on Your Word for direction.

If I sincerely want to walk in the footsteps You left for me, I must listen attentively to those You send to teach me.  All truth lies within Your words which have been captured under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  Help me draw closer to You and guide me into associations with godly men and women who will inspire and encourage me to become better.  As I strive to increase in Your Wisdom, show me how to act in accordance with it.  I do not want to be a hearer of Your words only, but a doer of them.  I know that as I put what I learn from You to work in my life, I will be able to serve as an example to the world around me.  Learning from You is essential and, if I am to succeed, I must daily strive to increase my understanding of Your laws and commands.

I’ve come to see Your Wisdom as a mirror showing me how I stack up to Your expectations.  I know that as I pay close attention to Your encouragement and rebukes, I will mature and master the skills necessary to overcome evil.  I now understand that Wisdom does not come in large chunks at one time.  It comes from learning by my mistakes, repeating good behaviors/decisions, applying spiritual truths/principles to my life and doing what You’d do in times of trials and adversity.  Help me continually sift through my past and present life to determine the things that need to be banished and the ones that I should cling to in order to experience good in my future.  I must remain watchful not to become so busy that I become mentally and spiritually inept.  Your goal for me is to grow steadily in Your Wisdom before I get to my next crossroad.  That’s why I will need a lifetime of learning to be successful.  And it’s in Jesus name I pray.  AMEN!!
