A Prayer to the God Who Loves Me

I praise Your name, O Lord, for You are awesome and righteous in all of Your ways.  You are greater than any of the “imposter” gods … able to do whatever You please in the heavens, on the earth or in the sea.  Among the gods there are none like You … so hear the voice of Your servant this day for I am weak and in need of Your strength.  Protect me from my enemies for my trust is in You alone.  Tune Your ears in to my cries because I call out to You whenever I am in need.  Walk with me each day so I am not left defenseless.  Give me Your joy to lift my sagging spirit when trouble surrounds me on every side.  Help me to never forget that You are a caring and compassionate God who abounds in love for those who You call.  And, I need Your assurance that You will be there for me and meet my needs whenever I find myself lacking.

Teach me, O Precious One, how to walk in Your truth and Your ways.  I want Your wisdom to guide me so that I can be single minded with You in the choices that I make.  Show me the way to Your goodness and unselfishness so I can emulate You in all that I do.  Help me learn how to die to myself so that I might live more for You and others.  Keep watch over me and send forth Your grace to cover me with Your blessings.  Give me the courage and strength to be like You and the power to accomplish those things I thought were impossible to achieve.  Comfort me in my times of sorrow and teach me perseverance and patience in my times of affliction for You are a caring and compassionate God who does not want me to suffer unnecessarily.

Shower me with Your mercy so I can be cleansed of the filth that comes from my bad choices and give me Your peace so I can see Your path forward more clearly.  Cause the sun to shine on my days and protect me in Your might in the night.  I don’t ever want to forget that apart from You I am nothing.  And, without Your love my life is hopeless.  Hear my cries for You to draw closer to me because … better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere … and, I would rather be a doorkeeper in Your house than to dwell in the homes of the ungodly.  Regardless of how perfectly I am able to replicate Your life in mine, I know that You will love me always.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

John 14:18 I will never leave you; I will never forsake you.
