Becoming A Messenger

Most Compassionate Lord, it’s both with anxiety and excitement that I accept Your calling to be a messenger of Your Word.  You do not expect me to overwhelm people with intellectual arguments but, instead, with simple, basic truths.  Using the advice You gave to Moses, I should not get hung up with what I will say.  I must rely on the Holy Spirit to craft the words that will bring glory to You.  My confidence should not come from keen intellect or flowery speeches, but from sharing what’s in my heart.  The successful delivery of an effective message comes from knowing Your Word, sharing from my life experiences and going with the flow of the Holy Spirit.  For the Spirit knows the heart and intents of every person and can appropriately guide us to the truth that meets others need.  As I grow in my relationship with You, I know I’ll be given opportunities and the inner strength to share Your truth.

The purpose of sharing Your Word with others should be to shine light into their darkness.  As I receive Your light which helps me understand Your truths, I am not to hide these revelations under a bushel basket.  Instead, I must take that light into the world to help others see their way to You.  I should not be afraid of sharing my life experiences to demonstrate how faith works.  My hope is that they will see that I did it, so can they.  You share Your wisdom with me so that, I in turn, can give it as a gift to others who can benefit from it.  Gaining insights into Your truths are meant to be shared and not kept to myself.  I should never let fear hold me back.  Why?  Because it is the enemy who wants to thwart the dissemination of Your message.  Your instruction was to go forth and share the gospel … it does not say go to a seminary first.  Instead, You ask me to get past my fear and share what You have shown to me.

Your desire has always been to offer salvation to all people.  Your plan became clear when You suffered, died and rose from the dead.  Your resurrection proved that You had the power to overcome sin and death and offer the same power to all who would accept You as their Lord.  To unbelievers, this message is a mystery because they either refuse to accept it, choose to ignore it or simply have not heard about it.  That’s why You need me.  Your deepest longing is to receive another soul into Your Kingdom.  If I allow the Spirit to guide me, He will show me what to say that will help others find the way to You.  I should not get preoccupied with whether I’m succeeding in sharing with others … for You have said that some will plant, some will water and some will reap the harvest.  As a messenger, my role is to love unconditionally, care deeply and share openly.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach (share) the Good News to all creation.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe is condemned.”
