Becoming A Servant

My Faithful Lord, committing to You as my Savior demonstrates my complete dependence on You and my sincere desire to obey what You ask of me.  My willingness to serve and obey You enables me to be a useful and useable servant to do Your work.  I have become the benefactor of grace and kindness which You pour out to me daily.  I now consider myself called and belonging to You.  As a believer in You, I have inherited both privileges and responsibilities.  Having received forgiveness for my sins through grace is an undeserved privilege.  But along with the privilege comes a responsibility to share the Good News with others.  In response to forgiveness for my sins, I have committed myself to a whole new way of living.  As a Christian, I have become an integral part of Your family and I have been set apart for Your service.  Because of all that You’ve done for me, I strive to become more like You.

I serve You willingly from my heart and I find myself sharing You with others that I meet.  As a part of Your family, I look forward to the mutual encouragement we offer each other.  As a follower, I feel drawn closer to Your Body.  In it, I find fellowship and comfort.  Everyone is expected to give and receive.  We are drawn by a mutual faith and common purpose.  I also feel obligated to share You with the wise and foolish … the churched and unchurched … the committed and independents.  I can sense Your power within me transforming the way I speak and act.  I’m glad You left me a road map, in the form of Your Word, by which I find out more about You and a better way to live.  Each day that I spend with You, I learn how to live by faith.  In my new connection with You, I find myself praying more.  And, I’m learning that sometimes my timing and expectations do line up with Yours.

When I speak of my faith, I am acknowledging Your faithfulness, my absolute trust in You and my confident hope that good things will follow me wherever I go.  Through faith, I receive a relationship with You that helps me shed the shackles of sin … find a pathway to eternity … and, become more like You.  Through faith, I’m connected to Your power which makes things that once seemed unfathomable become doable.  You called me to Yourself because You wanted to show me love and mercy … teach me meaningful truths … and prepare me to deal with things I would face in my life.  The best way to learn more about You is to obey what You ask of me and live according to Your moral principles.  Because of You, my relationship with the Father has been restored and the blessings of Heaven have been made available to me.  That is why I gladly declare myself a servant.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Luke 9:23 If anyone wants to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
