My Loving Lord, I desire with all my heart to become an imitator of You in every way. The path to achieving that goal will be hard because my spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. However, I believe that with help I can overcome the powers of sin because the spirit You placed in me can overcome any person or circumstance I will face. I do not want to be an imitator in some ways at some times … I want to be one in every way all of the time. To become like You, I must be motivated by a desire to not just rest in being saved but going further like You did. As an imitator of You, when others see my life, they should see You coming through. Even though I am surrounded by the world and evil, I must strive to reflect You in all that I do. I rejoice in the fact that when Your Father looks at my born-again spirit, He sees You. Help me make my life always reflect Your goodness and holiness.
The definition of an imitator is one who follows the pattern, model or example of another. As an imitator of You, I must strive with all of my energy and the help of the Holy Spirit to mimic everything You do … motivated by the things that motivated You. This does not make me a robot because I am moved by Your love to serve others the way You did. I want to resemble the image You left of Yourself in the Bible. I want others to see You in me so that they will be able to see how great You are and how You want to be a part of their life. Help me reflect Your goodness to those I meet. If I want to replicate the life You lived on earth … I must get to know You intimately … learn how You responded to the circumstances in Your life … and developing a loving and humble spirit. As a child mimics the ways of their parent, I want to mimic You. Nothing can be more rewarding than to have others see You in me.
I will become a true imitator when I repeat the things You would do in the ways You would do them. You are far superior to me, but I still want to do things the way that You did them. You loved so deeply that You were willing to lay down Your life for me and I ask that You fill my heart with such a love. In appreciation for all that You’ve done for me I want to abandon the ways of the world and replace them with Your ways. My confession is that You are good all the time and all the time You are good … help me become such a person. I want others to see Your goodness as I walk through my time on earth. When I gave my heart to You, I received Your nature … help me walk as one who has been redeemed. New life courses through me … and that life is You ever present in me. As I move from the milk to the meat of Your teachings, it will become easier to become an imitator of You. And its in Jesus name I pray. AMEN!!
