Being Thankful

You, O Lord, are my Stronghold and Savior who protects me from danger.  When I call out to You, You are quick to respond.  As negative emotions and destructive thoughts overwhelm me and make me feel like I’m going under, You come to my rescue.  Whenever I am confronted with evil and temptations abound, You deliver me from the struggle and turmoil.  Death follows me wherever I go and distress is a constant companion, but You are my helper and You stand in the gap for me.  I tremble when fear approaches for I know that my problems are bigger than I can solve, but You have a solution for them all.  Sometimes my way seems unclear, but you always cast Your light into my darkness to make my way clear.  When dark clouds appear on the horizon, I do not become concerned for I know You will help me weather the storm.  I do not worry because I am confident You’ve surround me with angels to form a hedge of protection around me.  How then do I ever thank You adequately for Your care and protection?

How blessed I be alive and experience each day with You.  The experience of Your tender mercies is even more wonderful than I could ever imagine.  Having friends and family to share my joys and sorrows with is very comforting.  When I am joyful, I know that it will never run out because of Your limitless supply.  If I experience pain and loss, it is Your peace and grace that help me through my troubled times.  Whenever I have self-doubts, You reassure me that I am special and have a mission for my life.  If I lack anything, You meet those needs.  I constantly feel Your presence with me and I know You watch over my comings and goings.  I am never ceased to be amazed at how You can turn my sure defeats into victories.  In all things, You show me unfailing kindness and shower me with blessings.  I appreciate, and never forget, the many wondrous things and small miracles You do on my behalf.  How then do I ever thank You adequately for Your care and protection?

I rejoice in Your presence and declare Your name to all those I meet.  I tell them of the things You both promise and do to make my life better.  I want them to understand what they are missing when You are not a part of their lives.  I want them to know of Your desire to save them, let them feast on the bounties of Heaven and help them resolve the issues that keep them in bondage.  With cracks forming in every area of their life, I want them to see that by building their lives You, they will be able to withstand whatever they might face.  I want their hunger and thirst for justice, validity and hope to be satisfied through You.  My hope is that they will stop trying to fix their lives within themselves, but find the fix in You.  O how I want to teach them to give You thanks for who You are … but, how do I do it while searching to thank You adequately for Your care and protection.  I think it can only come from a thankful heart built on love and deep feelings for You .  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!
