Growing in the Spirit

Lord Most High, I am pleased to learn that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who lives in me. I know that He will never let me become disappointed in my relationship with You because it is through Him that Your love is poured out into my heart. Because of the request You made of Your Father, He has provided me with a Helper who will be with me forever. He is the Spirit of Truth who will reveal to me the things that I need to know in order to have a successful life. You spoke the truth when You said it was to my advantage that when You left the earth You’d send me a Helper who would comfort me, school me in truth and lead me through the pitfalls of life. I know that He will never speak on His own authority, but only those things that He hears from You. I look forward to the gifts of the Spirit that will be brought out of me so I can become a better witness.

Your Word tells me that there is not only a Baptism with water, but a Baptism with the Holy Spirit. As I invite the Holy Spirit to have “free reign” in my life, I know that my appreciation of You will grow deeper, my faith in You will grow and my joy will be full. If I, being a human, know how to give good gifts to my children and grandchildren, how much more do You and Your Heavenly Father want me to have the gift of the Holy Spirit … if I ask for it. And, if I believe that I receive Him, I may find myself speaking in tongues, prophesying, dreaming and interpreting dreams or experiencing visions like those who have seen angels or Your Mother. In receiving the Holy Spirit as my partner for life, He will fill me with the power to overcome circumstances, evil, my own limitations and my personal fears. In His loving hands, I know that anything that comes from within my heart will be possible.

Unfortunately, in my Christian life, I often leave out interaction with the Holy Spirit. As a result, I miss out on some of the fervor and joy of belonging to You. You describe that excitement and joy that comes from within as “streams of living water flowing from within.” You use the term “living water” to express the newness of life that invigorates me. Whenever I accept the Spirit in His fullness, He is able to guide me in the ways of truth, understanding and a victorious life. Since the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit has been made available to all who believe in You. It is the Spirit who opens my eyes to see You more clearly and to clear the fog from my understanding Your Word. As my “Teacher”, the Holy Spirit calls my attention to things I need to know to fulfill my calling and reap the benefits of being Yours. I’m just now realizing the importance of having the Holy Spirit in my life. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN

I Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
