By Your Death and Resurrection (Lenten Theme)

I praise You, O Lord, and I adore You because You have redeemed the world.  The unselfish sacrifice which You made by dying on the Cross for me, and all of those who call upon Your name, has set us free to lead a victorious life.  By Your death and resurrection, You opened the door to eternal life for me and all of those who would trust in You.  When You said “Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.  Yet not as I will but as You will,” You taught me about sacrificial obedience in difficult times.  In Your agony and distress, You took upon Yourself suffering and separation from Your Father in order to satisfy the calling He had on Your life.  What an example of love and willing submission.  Help me, Sweet Jesus, to take up the yoke of my calling courageously as You did Yours.

What must I do to become a “living sacrifice” like Your example and the Word calls me to be?  How do I surrender my ugliness for Your beauty?  How do I become holy when I have fallen and am so weak?  Is it by laying down my desires to do Your will?  Is it by putting myself, my energy and my resources at Your disposal?  Is it trusting Your guidance and following where You lead me?  Is it by expressing genuine gratitude for Your forgiveness and my many blessings?  Or, is it by praising You in my tough and trying times and exalting Your name during the good ones?  I believe it can be found in all of these things, and possibly more, that become a part of me and in the process transform me into Your likeness.  For Your call on my life should be sufficient to spur me to greater heights as a show of genuine appreciation for all that You have done on my behalf.

I thank You too, My King, for enduing me with the power of Your resurrection.  No longer am I held back by Satan, sin or my own fleshly weaknesses.  For You have made me more than a conqueror through Your awesome power and the gift of eternal life.  There is no limit to what I can accomplish with my life when I am willing to accept Your will and Your ways.  You have triumphed over Hell, death and the grave and made them irrelevant so that I might be able to reap the abundance of the inheritance Your Father intended for me from the beginning of time.  By Your death and resurrection, You have paved the way for me to be covered by Your righteousness.  I am thankful for Your love, Your example and Your provision which sustain me.  By Your death and resurrection, I’ve been made a new creation fit for Your service.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

I Corinthians 15:54-56 Death has been swallowed up in victory … thanks be to God, for He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
