Come As You Are

O Precious Bread of Life, I am so grateful for Your invitation to come just as I am.  I have found Your love to be unconditional and, through it, I’ve been made complete.  I am glad that Your love is tender and knows no limits.  You have assured me that there is nothing I’ve done, or ever can do, that will close the door to our relationship.  Because of Your forgiving heart and my seeking forgiveness, our connection will always be strong.  As I follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, I’m believing that He will guide me into a closer walk with You and help me experience the fullness of belonging to You.  I am sure that the Spirit can also help me find my place in Your “great plan.”  I know that it’s Your desire to take away my pain, anguish and sorrow … and, wipe away every tear.  You have given up all so I could have much … You have become poor so I might become rich … and, You have blessed me beyond measure.

I rejoice in the fact that You have offered me an opportunity to bask in Your love and the goodness that only You have to offer.  I now drink from a fountain of life that pours forth from within.  Because of my past failures, You have had to intervene to preserve my life from ruin.  As I learn to listen to Your voice and obey it, You will set it on a solid foundation built upon Your teachings.  You have pulled me out of the quicksand of struggles, troubles and sorrow.  You’ve taken the burdens of my past failures and difficulties upon Yourself.  As a result, I’ve been invigorated for the remainder of my journey here on earth.  With You by my side, my hope has been renewed and a new song has been written upon my heart.  You delivered me from the pit and given me an inheritance I do not deserve.  I had become like one who is unclean and my righteousness as filthy rags, yet You allowed me to come to You as I am.

I am thankful that You have allowed me to experience the wonders of Your love.  Each day I marvel at the fact that You’ve opened the doors of Your heart so I could come in and enjoy its tenderness and warmth.  I come bringing my lumps, bruises and scars from a messed up life, but You call me “beautiful” and receive me as Your own.  In Your love, I’ve been able to find peace and rest.  Even though my journey is exhausting, trying and filled with bad experiences … they have brought me to You … so they have been worthwhile.  In the world, I face rejection all the time.  I am asked to live a life that is not in conformity with Your will.  And, I am encouraged to adjust my life to the ways of the world that is selfish and uncaring.  However, in You, I have found safety, rest and acceptance and I feel like Your heart is open to me and I can come to You as I am.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all You who are weary and burdened, and I will give You rest.
