My Majestic Lord, You’ve stated that Your intention is for me to become a Conqueror as I learn from You the ways of a warrior. These are comforting words in light of the many battles I must fight throughout my life. I’ve faced hardships in many forms … temptation, sickness, stress, worry, etc. In these times, I’ve sometimes become fearful and questioned whether You were with me. But in the midst of those thoughts, I remembered Your promise that nothing can separate me from Your love. Reflecting on this makes me realize that You do stand with me daily and have destined me to be a Conqueror in all things. In Your power and strength, I’m enabled to defeat any foe and with Your armor I am protected from harm. Your expectation is that I will not wither under the heat of trials and testing. Instead, I am to draw my strength from You and stand against the schemes and challenges that try to topple me.
Your Word tells me that “they overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of His testimony.” This gives clear direction on how I am to become an Overcomer. It confirms to me that the critical blow to Satan’s power comes through the shedding of Your blood for my sins. I will not allow my enemy to drag me back into his clutches again because I have been given a new life that is incompatible with his enticements and sin. The power to overcome was won through Your sacrifice and my belief in You. As I come face to face with the enemy of my soul, I will not retreat in fear … instead, I will remain loyal to You who can bring me forth victoriously. Overcomers are those who remain faithful until the end and continue to please You with their attitudes and actions. No matter how great the force that comes against me, I know I can count on You to supply the power I need to cast it aside.
Conquering and Overcoming are two forces that You’ve placed within me to help me achieve victories over my adversaries and circumstances. To be a Conquer implies the fighting of a battle in which I am empowered to overwhelm an enemy. To be an Overcomer implies an ability to resist and withstand a counter attack in order to secure a victory. The two qualities are partners who combine to strike at any force that comes against me and possess the where-with-all to withstand a counter attack. In the vernacular of boxing, they are a 1-2 punch. With the ferocious valor of a Conqueror and the steadiness of an Overcomer within me, I can withstand any attack of an enemy or circumstance that tries to knock me off-stride. You’ve cautioned me that in the world I will face tribulations, but You encourage me that You were victorious over Yours and I will be over mine. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
