Doing My Part

O Wonderful Master, as I gaze around me, I see desperate people searching for someone or something to hold onto.  They face multiple problems that seemingly defy solution, yet they must deal with them and I know You can help.  I believe that Your people, with pure motives and a willing heart, can stand in the gap for these souls.  Your Word reminds me that “those who are wise will shine with the brightness of the heavens and those who lead many to righteousness are like the stars forever” (Dan 12:3).  I pray that You will guide me into being such a person of service.  I want to learn to walk under Your leadership so I can be in a position to counsel others concerning Your ways.  Each day that You give me to live is an opportunity to share You with others who need Your mercy and grace.  I not only want to become proficient in sharing You with my words, but also with my deeds.  As a responsible servant, I want to be a bearer of the Good News of Your love and forgiveness.

I believe that You have a plan for my life … one that is near and dear to Your heart.  I want to cooperate with You in accomplishing Your purpose for me.  To live up to Your expectations, I must make decisions that are pleasing to You and conform to Your will.  As I earnestly seek Your will, I know I will have success if I place my trust in You.  And, as I develop a deeper relationship with You, I will learn to recognize Your voice and discern Your will for me.  Even in my most trying times, when I am not sure of which way to turn, I must not lose sight of the fact that You created me for a reason and You have important work for me to do.  In patience, You wait for me to step forward and say “Here I am Lord … use me as You will.”  Help me develop the courage and fortitude to give You my best.

Doing my part for Your Kingdom involves being willing to do what I am asked, making time to do it and being unselfish with my time, talents and resources.  My response requires obedience to Your call and making a place for Your work among the many demands in my life.  My ability to do what You ask involves committing time that I consider valuable and limited to doing things You ask of me.  Acting unselfishly requires forgetting about me and what I want and placing a higher value on You and what You want.  It requires denial of self and holding in higher esteem the needs of others.  How I respond tells me how committed I am to You and the works of Your Kingdom.  What priority I place on my response tells me a lot about where I place Your desires in the hierarchy of things that are important to me.  And, my acceptance of my role and whether it carries with it recognition, praise and rewards reflects on the purity of my motives.  My heart yearns to do my part in advancing the purposes of Your Kingdom … help me not fall short of doing my part.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!
