A King Forever

My Glorious King, You are greater than any power or person. You are the ruler of time and space, now and forever, Heaven and Earth, humans and angels. Your request to me was to give You Your rightful place in my life. Because You were sent by Your Father, I know I can trust You with my life. I must be willing to give up everything in order to acknowledge and make You Lord of my life. My way to gain membership in Your Kingdom is by faith alone – believing in You as the One who saves me from sin and eternal death and has given me a place at Your banqueting table. I must be willing to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to change so I can do the work You called me to do in Your Kingdom. Your teachings show me how to live on earth and prepare me for life in Your Kingdom through righteous and loving living. You lived what You taught and I must live by those guidelines.

While Your chosen people were waiting for a king to rescue them from Roman oppression, Your Father had other plans and sent You to establish a Heavenly Kingdom. The Kingdom He had in mind was much greater than any other and would never end. At Your birth, there were many who recognized You as King, but there was at least one who was afraid of Your Kingship and tried to kill You. When You came to earth, in obedience to Your Father, You were accused, arrested, and crucified … not at all the treatment a king should receive. But You demonstrated Your power over death through Your resurrection and gained access for me to become a part of Your Eternal Kingdom. With the many things that testify to the fact that You are God’s Son … Your miraculous birth, the miracles You performed, and Your triumph over death … it should be very easy for me to make You my Lord and King.

The Sermon on the Mount and Your many parables provide directions for living in the world and Your Kingdom. Your parables clarified for me the difference between Your Kingdom and the kingdoms of the world. Forgiveness, peace and humility are just some of the characteristics that make one great in Your Kingdom. To be great in Your Kingdom, I must live by the standards which You lay out in Your Word. You came not only to save me but to show me how to live as a good neighbor on the earth and a faithful subject of Your Kingdom. The key purpose in Your Father sending You to mankind was to die to free us from sin’s oppression. While Your coming began Your Kingdom, its fullness will not be recognized until You return and is occupied by all those who have faithfully followed You. I am thankful that You have taught me how to walk by faith and how to live a fruitful life. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
