Faith In You

My Steadfast Defender, regardless of what goes on around me or what stands before me, I know that You will be with me like a Mighty Champion defending me from whomever/whatever tries to take me down. As a result, my tormentors will stumble and fail in their efforts to prevail over me. You continually test my heart through probing my mind and my inner motives to see the true intents of my inner man. Lift me above the fray and keep me safe because I have committed my life to You. I have made Your causes mine and Your paths are the way I will travel. When circumstances seem to be going against me, I will trust that You will be there for me. When facing struggles, I will not collapse under their weight because I know I can count on You. When I’ve been beaten down and I am tempted to turn away from You, that is not the time to give up and stop trusting You. Instead, I will continue to pray.

Most people want lasting joy and will try almost anything to attain it. The only genuine happiness that I can experience comes from seeking You and getting to know You. If I seek You and live as You direct me, I know I can count on You to be there when You are needed. That’s when true joy follows. When others disappoint me, I feel empty and a vital part of me seems to be missing. When my trust has been broken, I wander through life aimlessly and feel like I do not have an anchor. In these lowest of times, I know I can turn to You and find meaning and purpose for my life. You have truly become my Rock and Sure Foundation. In the many storms that I face in life, I should never forget to thank You for the many times You have been there for me and covered me with Your loving kindness. I want my life to become a testimony to others about who You are and what You are willing to do for them.

Inside every person is a desire to be recognized and remembered. As I look at my life, I realize that my relationships make me who I am … parent, spouse, church member, employee, etc. To me, I am who I am to those around me and the relationships I hold with them. The chief relationship to which I belong is the one with You. Earthly things and relationships pass away, but my relationship with You lasts on into eternity. My energy and efforts (fueled by my faith) must give You a reason to remember me. Didn’t it work that way with the Patriarchs like Abraham. Through Your recognition of who I am (through the faith that lives in me), I receive Your most precious gift … Salvation. Because of my relationship with You, I have the confidence that You will be with me through anything I encounter. I rely heavily on Your promise that nothing can separate me from Your love. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Romans 8:32 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His only son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?
