O Wise and Caring God, You have said that, if I lack wisdom, I can come to You and You will share Yours with me. Help me understand how to hear Your instructions and learn from Your teachings. For the words that You speak are a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. When I am looking for the right way to go, I can count on You to lead me in the right direction. When I need to hear Your voice, I know I can count on You to speak to me. I have learned that when I need to hear Your voice … I must first turn to Your Word … then meditate on it throughout my day … and, finally do what You are instructing me to do. When I obey, You make my ways prosperous … You empower me to make good choices … and, You help me to succeed in the things You call me to do. If I take the time to make myself get quiet and tune out the extraneous noises, I trust that You will help me hear more clearly.
If I open my heart and mind, the Holy Spirit (who has been designated to guide me) will lead me to real truth. If I follow His leadership and listen intently to what He’s teaching, He will make known to me the things I need to know in order to be successful. Because the Holy Spirit’s role is to guide and comfort me, I must listen intently for His voice and do as He instructs. I believe that when I submit myself to You, my thoughts will be established by You and I will be enabled to sort out the things that are important and separate them from the things that are frivolous. When I obey Your commands, You will take my hand and show me the way I am to proceed. In so doing, You will take much delight in what I do. As a result of trusting You with all my heart, I will strive to let go and let You take control of my life. I need and want Your influence in all of the decisions I have to make.
In trusting You more with my life and, not trying to figure things out on my own … if I acknowledge You are everything to me … then I can count on You to walk with me and lead me to making good decisions which produce good outcomes for my life. In my walk, I must maintain a delicate balance in trusting You as though everything depended on You while working as if everything depended on me. In my darkest hours, I should resist giving place to negative thoughts of worry, doubt and discouragement. Instead, I should turn to You in prayer … letting go of the negative feelings … and, opening myself up to Your encouraging and uplifting words. Whenever I feel sad, You instruct me to rejoice … when my head starts to sag, You instruct me to look up … and, when my focus is outward, I can see my deliverance drawing near. That is the path I must take in finding Your will. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
