Go Tell It On The Mountain

Most Righteous Lord, You came as a servant so many did not recognize or acknowledge who You were. I, too, must take care to not reject You because You do not quite fit my image of what You should be or what Your expectations of me should be. You had all of the power of the Almighty God … You raised the dead, gave sight to the blind, and quieted the storm and raging waters. But in these awesome displays of power, I must not forget that You came to serve and not to be served. I must strive to emulate Your pattern of living in my own life. As You served Your Father and others, so should I. When You rose from the dead, You proved once and for all that You were God and had the power to change men’s lives. By trusting in You, I have been forgiven and can begin a new life with You as my guide. Because of Your example, I should also be willing to love and serve others.

Real greatness in Your Kingdom is to be shown by my service and personal sacrifice. Having an ambition or desire for power or status should not be what motivates me. Instead, I should be willing to do what You call me to do because I love You. The more convinced I become that You came to save me, the more I will see Your love and power at work in my life. Your mighty works on behalf of others should convince me that You are capable and willing to do the same for me … because You are not a respecter of persons. Your miracles brought healing, wholesomeness, and changes to the lives of people, like me, who believed You were sent by God and trusted that You eliminated the power of sin from our lives and prepared a place for me at Your banqueting table in Heaven. It was clear in Your message that Your gifts were to be shared with every man.

Your message crosses national, social, political and economic barriers in order to touch every man with Your Good News. Your message of faith and forgiveness is meant to reach out to the whole world … not just my church, my community or my country. I must get beyond myself and reach out to others who have real needs and have never heard Your message of love and salvation. What You want shared is life changing and should become a part of everyone’s life. As Your Word tells me, Your light should not be hidden under a bushel basket but shared from the mountaintop so all can see it. Since You have departed the earth for Heaven, who has been left to go into the world and share the Good News about You with all of creation? Who is in my world? I guess it is all of those with whom I come into contact. So, it must be me. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation.”
