Most Magnificent Lord, You have said that You are the One who carries the burdens of the weary and rescues those who are held in captivity. You ask me to whom will I liken You or to whom will I compare You? Very clearly, in Your Word, You declare “I Am He” and there is no other … there is none like Me. You offer me salvation if I am willing to follow You. You have filled the role of Redeemer that no other man can fill so that I would have an opportunity to serve You as my Lord. You are awesome and Your purposes never go unfulfilled. They always stand the test of time. You do as You please … intervening when You choose and standing by when You feel it is appropriate. You always know what is best. Like a loving parent, You teach and guide me. You teach me what is best for me and show me the path that I am to travel.
You have cared for me since I was conceived because my heart is committed to obeying Your commands. As I have grown older and my hair has turned gray, I know that You are the One who has sustained me. You gave me life and are the One with a stake in my success. I realize that my testing and trials are meant to refine me and not beat me down. You test me through the furnace of tribulations to remove the undesirable parts of my beliefs and behaviors. It is so easy to complain when my life is difficult or complicated. Rather than complain, I must turn to You for strength and perseverance. If I act in faith and rejoice in what You are doing, I will come out of it a better person. Without testing I would never know what I can do nor would I grow. With Your refining, I will become more like You. To be effective, I must become a good listener and then turn what I learn into doing.
In living by Your words, I know that I will remain under Your covering. Listening to what You share with me fills me with hope and anticipation of the good things to come. Refusing to obey You will only bring about correction and cut me off from Your many benefits. As I learn to separate myself from sin and move closer to You, I feel more peace and contentment with my life. Though my labors sometime feel like they are in vain, I know that if I remain in You everything will work for the best. You have shined Your light into my life and now You expect me to shine that light into the darkness where others live. I feel protected when You tell me that You will be with me always and will treasure me as Your own. I rejoice in the comfort and compassion that You show to me during my times of afflictions. It is for all these reasons that You will always be my “Great I AM.” And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
Isaiah 47:8 I am, and there is none besides me.
