Most Holy Word of God, I unequivocally accept Your Word as my own because it is trustworthy, flawless, true and eternal like You. Unlike people who lie or change what they say or leave promises unfulfilled, Your Word is faithful and unchanging. The Scriptures instruct me how to live uprightly and do things the way You do them. A daily application of Your Word has the effect of cleansing and purifying my mind and heart. They point me in the direction of repentance and guide me in the way I should go. If I adhere to Your teachings, I will come to understand what is true and that will enable me to walk in freedom. The acceptance of Your Word causes my problems to melt away and builds up my faith. You have assured me that if I love You, accept Your words and obey them, I will live in peace. Obeying Your Words does seem to eliminate my burdens and pressures so I can feel at peace.
I’ve come to understand that Your words are not static and unmoving and, instead, are living and active … like You when You were on the earth. The Bible is not a collection of words sent from Heaven or a vehicle for communicating ideas … it is life giving, life changing and dynamic as it works in my life. It reveals to me my potential and shows me how to attain it. It discerns the good and evil that work in my life and shows me how to act and think to do good. I should not only listen to Your words, but allow them to shape my life. Your promises have withstood the test of time and have proven their ability to change things in the life of a believer. Because You embody truth, Your Word cannot lie and has proven itself to be reliable and dependable in guiding me through life. You explained my need for Your Word when You said “man does not live be bread alone, but every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Your Word acts as a lamp to my feet and a light onto my path. To walk safely, I need light so I do not trip over stumbling blocks or traps set out to ensnare me. Your light helps me navigate my way through the dark forest of evil I travel through each day. It keeps me from becoming entangled in false values and philosophies of the world. The study of Your Word keeps me on the high ground and directs me in the safest path forward. Your light keeps me safe and supplies true and dependable guidance. As Your light shines into my life, I am filled with hope and the expectation that all my problems will melt away. In Your light, Your laws do not inhibit or restrain me … it actually frees me to be all that I can become. By living in the revelations from Your light, I am able to fulfill Your call on my life. As the Word who came to dwell among us, my life will never be the same. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
