All Knowing God, I rejoice in the fact that You have trusted me with the gift of choice. Along with that gift comes a responsibility to use it wisely. All of my decisions should be made with much prayer and seeking of Your will. The old adage of “what would Jesus do” serves to remind me that while I have a free will … the way to insure my choices have good outcomes is to choose to deal with them the way You would. Help me not become absorbed in the gloomy, negative side of things and, more appropriately, try to connect my decision to Your Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit. I am most thankful for Your gift of life and the ability to enrich it by making good choices. Instill in me a good attitude and loving spirit so that I will see my life through Your eyes and be able to make choices that will enhance it as well as the lives of others.
Heartache, sadness and circumstances that are beyond my control must be turned over to You. When facing a challenge, I should do what I can to make the outcome positive, pray about it and seek Your wisdom to gain the insight I need to come up with the best solution. I must accept the fact that the power to change things does not reside in me but You. I must count on You to do the things I cannot. I know that, if I tend to dwell on the negatives and impossibilities, I will reap the fruit of poor decisions. Adding You to the mix turns my impossibility into a possibility and positive outcomes. I know that much pain and heartache exist in the world and You’ve given me the choice of freeing myself from it. That can only happen when I begin my day expressing my love for You and making good choices based on Your guidance.
I know that You have placed a choice before me … to choose between doing evil or doing good. Help me detest evil so much that I would never want to join forces with it. Help me grow in my love for You so that I will see Your ways more clearly and never want to disappoint You. The road to Hell is wide and the road to Heaven is narrow … therefore, I must be careful in making choices that keep me on the right path. As a true servant, I must decide whether I will obey You, who has proven Himself to be trustworthy, or the world which is filled with deceits and man-made idols. It is easy to slip into quiet rebellion … going through life my own way. But a time does come when I ultimately have to decide who or what will control my life. The choice is mine and I want it to be You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
