O Precious Lord, as Your child, You ask me to show compassion, kindness, patience and love to those with whom I interact each day. You want me to be patient and forbearing as You are with me. The key to achieving harmony is remembering how much You’ve forgiven me. As I reflect on Your infinite love and kindness, it makes me want to follow in Your footsteps. You want me to put on love so that I can become a catalyst that brings Your people into a closer relationship with You and become a peacemaker when troubles arise. To find peace and to become a peacemaker, I must draw closer to You and find it in my heart to be one with my brethren. I know I cannot develop an intimacy with others based on feelings … it takes making a conscious decision to break down walls that separate and build bridges that bring together. When I act in love, it causes all of my relationships to flourish.
To have a fulfilling life, I must not only let peace reign in my heart, but I must be thankful in all things. Everything in my life that is good has come from You and that should give me reason to rejoice. Regardless of what’s going on in my life, You cause the bad to be counterbalanced with good so that I do not become overwhelmed and lose hope. To have a thankful heart, I must look for my blessings and rejoice in the fact that they keep my life positive. To remain positive, I must let Your words permeate my mind and thoughts so that I can overcome negativity. When I do so, my life prospers and I am able to show others a better way. I want my joy and thankfulness to be an expression of my appreciation and gratitude for the things You do to make my life better. As I focus on who I am in You, I know my heart will be filled with gladness and it will spill out of me onto others.
I must never forget that in whatever I do, whether in word or deed, I must do it as unto You. I can never forget that I am the best picture of You that some people will ever see. I must endeavor to bring honor to Your name in every aspect and component of my daily life. As a Christian, I must remember that I represent You at all times … wherever I go … whatever I do … and, however I choose to express myself. I want everyone who sees my life to see the goodness, joy, comfort and stability that You bring to it. When I am weak or fall short of the mark, give me the strength and conviction to be able to change the image of You that I leave with others. Help me examine all of my relationships to see if I am doing all I can to be my best for them. I trust that as I am able to get beyond myself, I will be able to live a meritorious life for You and others. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus …
