My Christmas Prayer (Christmas Theme)

Savior of the World, I acknowledge Your wondrous birth and the fulfilling of the promise that a Savior would come to redeemed me from the hold of sin, death and the grave.  Your birth allowed Your light to shine into the darkness that covered the whole earth … giving hope to downtrodden spirits … and, offering unconditional love.  Give me the strength to overcome evil with good, make choices that align with Your will and live my life as You lived Yours.  Fill me with the joy that comes from acknowledging Your majesty and knowing You will stand with me in all things.  I do not want to be astonished by anything You do for me because all things are possible when my faith is in You alone.  You came as a small child to take on a large role, yet You did it fearlessly and unselfishly.  Therefore, I pray that all of Your creation will come to the knowledge that You are their King and Lord.

How bright Your star shined into the darkness showing all of mankind the way to a better life.  My desire is to learn how to live the way You intended and become a light shining forth Your goodness.  Place in me a humble heart like Yours … one that will give without expecting anything in return … one that is committed to serving everyone regardless of their station in life.  You who had every right to see Yourself as better than any of the rest of us, willingly became a servant to all.  Your life was one of selfless giving and I want mine to be the same.  Your infancy and growth into maturity is a living picture of who I am and can become.  In the same way that You instruct me to start my life living on the milk of the Word, You do not want me remaining there.  Instead, you encourage me to grow into maturity by feasting on the meat of the Word.

As the Wise Men came to bring You gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh, I too want to offer You myself as a living gift … devoted to You and serving my fellow man.  In the same way that You innocently came into the world to save it, I want to lay down my life for the purpose of building Your Kingdom.  Give me the courage to follow in Your footsteps … even when I do not receive the accolades I feel I deserve.  In the same way that You were given a new life through Your mother Mary, I want to be reborn through my Baptism and commitment to You.  Christmas is a time of joy for Your coming to give me life … and one that is filled with abundance.  You gave of Yourself to teach me how to give.  You’ve not only taught me that it is better to give than receive, but showed me how to do it.  I am so blessed to be a part of Christmas and the celebration of Your coming.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Luke 2:10-11 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.
