My Faithful Redeemer, I am tempted each day to look everywhere except to You for my guidance and leadership. The world demands that I place my trust in the medical system, financial system, politicians and news commentators … so I hope You will understand why I sometimes linger in my trust of You. However, I know what Your response would be … has any other god taken His people out of bondage to lead them into a Promised Land … has any other god healed the sick, made the lame to walk, made the blind to see or raised the dead to life … has any other god laid down His life to free His people from the punishment for their sins and open the door to eternal life … of course not??!! In choosing You, I have found the better way. As I learn to obey Your commands and walk in Your ways, I’ll reap the benefits of belonging to You … good health, prosperity, peace and protection … to name a few.
The laws You have laid down and the commands You have given to me are all designed to keep me healthy, provide a life of prosperity, free me from the power of sin, help me escape the grasp of worry and fear and supply the guidance I need in making good decisions. As I prosper from obeying Your laws and commands, I’ve come to realize that it is no guarantee that I will never be sick, never be sad, never have turmoil in my life … but I can expect good fortune to follow me wherever I go, freedom to enjoy life to the fullest, the ability to overcome obstacles that once seemed impossible, help with carrying my burdens, a friend to wipe away my tears, wisdom to deal with anything I face and the assurance that all will go well for me if I remain faithful. It is Your constant presence, comfort, protection, helping hand and guidance that fill me with hope and a desire to persevere.
I am emboldened in the knowledge the words You speak are true, filled with wisdom and You are faithful in honoring each one of them. You love righteously and Your justice is fair and upright. By the power of Your words, the world was created and is sustained to this day. I can stand confidently on the fact that You do not lie, waver in what You stand for or leave Your promises unfulfilled. Because You are holy, trustworthy and unchanging in all of Your ways, You are deserving of my devotion and allegiance. I know I can count on You to foil the plans of those who plot to do me harm … to be the solid foundation upon which I can built my life … and, Your dispensing of many blessings I do not deserve. You are my constant companion, source of help and support, a willing encourager and ever faithful Friend. For all of these reasons, I know You will always be my prevailing Lord. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
