Most Generous Lord, I am so thankful for even the smallest of Your blessings. Many seem to expect to receive everything they can conceive of or imagine … which usually leads them to being disappointed when they do not get it. I have found that when I expect nothing … I am always thankful when I receive even a morsel from Your table. I have come to appreciate that a little shared with You is worth so much more than great wealth gained in the world. When I learn to appreciate the little I have, I open the door to Your abundant blessings. As I become trustworthy in the little things, You provide me opportunities to share in the larger ones. If I set my mind above, where You are seated with Your Heavenly Father, and not on earthly things, I will inherit the truly imperishable gifts that You have to offer. I rest on the assurance that You care for me and want Your best for me.
Through Your Apostle John, You said that it was Your desire that I enjoy good health and things that make my life better. These words tell me that you are concerned with both my physical and spiritual well-being. The prosperity of my body and soul mean a lot to You. Because of this concern, Your expectation of me is that I will take good care of both of them. You provide doctors, medicines, good foods and rest and You expect me to make good choices and do the things that promote health and a prosperous life. Good things I can and should do to enhance my life include: Renewing my mind through the reading of Your Word and meditating on it; resting in the assurance that You care about me and will help me; and, renewing my strength and confidence by following the leading of the Holy Spirit. My wellness depends heavily on Your mercy and grace being dispensed in generous amounts.
Because Your love is better than life itself, I will praise You as long as I live. I will be satisfied by the riches You have won for me. In Your lovingkindness, You have shown me the wonders of Your love which has redeemed me and offers me a refuge whenever I am in turmoil. As a result of being reminded of Your loving acts, I will strive to walk uprightly before You. Because I have given myself to You, I am able to partake at Your table of plenty. Through Your love, You’ve proven Your faithfulness in meeting all of my needs. I feel confident that in Your lovingkindness and truth I will always find safety … for my troubles surround me and my enemies have made plans to overwhelm me. Hear my prayers through the goodness of Your heart and turn to me when I cry out … for I need Your help. If it were not for Your many blessings sent from above, I surely would perish. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
Psalm 69:16 Answer me, O Lord, out of the goodness of Your love; in Your great mercy turn to me.
