Save me, O Lord, because my ways and my follies cannot escape Your watchful eyes. My enemies surround me on all sides causing confusion and distress. My every step is treacherous because there are pot holes in the path I travel and swirling waters beneath me threaten to swallow me. In my times of trouble, I call out for help, but my eyes struggle to catch a glimpse of You. It seems that each day I am overwhelmed with evil and faced with multiple opportunities to lose my way. Life steals much from me and I am forced to restore that which I did not steal. Where will my hope come from … where will my deliverance come from?
My hope is in You alone, My Deliverer. May those who seek to lead me astray and rob me of my happiness be dealt with in Your power and might. You have endured scorn, disgrace and shame for my sake. You allowed Your own flesh and blood to become a perpetual sacrifice for my failures and sins. For this I weep and endure much heartache. I should daily put on sackcloth and ashes to demonstrate how sorrowful I am for being disobedient and causing You to suffer an ignominious death on The Cross. Yet because of the depth of Your love, You rescued me from the fires of Hell. You have redeemed me through the perfect offering of Yourself. You have pulled me from the mire of self-serving acts, conditional love and lustful thoughts. When I call upon Your name, You answer from the goodness of Your heart. When I am in trouble, You do not hide Your face from me. When I long for sympathy and comfort, You lavish them upon me. Hold back the Devourer … pour out Your wrath upon the Tempter … in Your power, overtake the Enemy of my Soul and cast him into the Lake of Fire. For he leads me into temptation and, if it had not been for Your mercy and grace, surely he would lead me into a pit. It is through Your suffering and death that I have been delivered from the pain and distress of my sins. Your unselfish sacrifice has bought me freedom, joy and peace.
For all these things, I will forever praise Your name and with gladness I will offer up thanksgiving for all You’ve done for me. My eyes will never stop searching for You and my ears will remain attentive for Your voice because the mercy I seek can only be found in You. Rebuild my life with Your goodness so I can be more like You. Use Your blood to wash my guilt away. Help me find peace with my life, my calling and my cross. I want to be Yours alone because You have an inheritance waiting for those who love You and give themselves to You. As a result of Your making the ultimate sacrifice to redeem me, my hope rests in You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
