O Come Ye Faithful (A Christmas Theme)

All honor and praise be Yours, My Prince of Peace, for You have called me and all of Your faithful to come with songs on our lips and joy in our hearts to stand before You.  Our songs of joy are based on the fact that You have made us conquerors in all things … promised us that every weapon formed against us would not succeed … and, assured us that the impossible is possible if we believe.  I feel a drawing to You because of how brave You were to come into a dark, cold world to save Your people.  How miraculous it is to think of You as a baby taking upon Yourself the sins, pains and sickness of the world.  Gladness should fill every heart at the Good News of Your coming to set men free and love them to the end.  You should have been clothed in royal robes, but were laid in a manger and wrapped in swaddling clothes.  You deserved the best, yet came as a common man.  You were sinless, yet became the ransom for every man’s sins releasing him from the shackles of sin and death so that Heaven could be his home.

O King of Majesty, King of Glory, I lift up praise to You for the courage and determination You showed in withstanding the nasty cruelty You would face and then have Your people show so little appreciation for all You would undergo and endure for their sakes.  As a result of Your loving act, my sins are forgiven and the price owed for them has been paid in full.  In return, what You ask is that I submit myself to Your tender care … that what You want becomes more important to me than what I want … that I would allow myself to be led by the Holy Spirit … that I would realize every good thing in my life is a gift from You … and, that I would become devoted to reading and meditating on Your Word so I can put it to work in my life.  How good You are to those who in faith and adoration bow down to You … who follow You in deep devotion … and, realize that apart from You they are nothing.

To be faithful, I must become disposed to listening and following Your instructions.  I must believe that Your words are true and meant to guide me in righteous living.  I must show You true affection and allegiance … leaving behind the pleasures and distractions of the world to take up my cross to follow You.  I must have a steadfast belief that You are the One and Only Son of God who came to save and redeem me.  I must hold no reservations in trusting and serving You.  I must accept Your call knowing it has a purpose … running the race I must run … and, fulfilling the responsibilities I’ve been given.  I must be resolute in my faith and sincere in my promises to You.  When I falter, I must seek reconciliation immediately so that our relationship is mended quickly.  O Gracious Lord, I look forward to Your daily call for me and all of Your faithful to come and serve You.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!
