Omnipotent God

O Just and Merciful Lord, how long must I cry out for Your help because I am not seeing Your response?  How long must I point out the injustices of the things going on around me, yet You tolerate them?  Strife and conflict abound, but You do not intervene.  The wicked overwhelm the righteous with their lies to prevent justice.  I am saddened by the corruption and violence I see going on before me.  I keep hearing that right is wrong and wrong is right.  Political correctness is rampant and seems to have no end.  Every day uncovers some new evil going on.  I know that You must have long-range plans and purposes, but it is hard to stand by and watch powerless to stop the onslaught of evil.  I know that You are active behind the scenes to turn evil into good, but I must admit that I am slow to see or understand why You are doing what You are doing.  I only know that I feel upset and discouraged.

Evil and injustice seem to have the upper hand in the world I live in.  Evil seems to permeate everything and is seemingly winning the war over those who want to see good prevail.  Christians, like myself, often feel angry and disheartened as we watch helplessly at what is going on.  I know Your answer is “Be patient.  I will work out my plans in my perfect timing.”  However, I must confess, it isn’t easy to be patient … but, I am comforted in the fact that You hate evil and sin more than I do.  I know that the evil I face in the world will certainly feel Your wrath.  To trust in You is the strong foundation upon which I must stand.  To trust You fully, even when I don’t understand, is my biggest challenge as a follower of Yours.  The wicked trust in themselves and their perverted ways, but Your people live by their faith and trust in You.  Your Word is the place to which I must retreat in these difficult times.

As each day begins, I must believe that You have all things under Your control and You will work them out in accordance with Your purposes.  I must remain faithful and not succumb to the enticements of the world.  If I am to trust You, I cannot trust in bank accounts, possessions, other people or my own will.  If I follow after other gods, I will lose my appetite for You.  I am never insulated against the effects of evil unless I maintain my trust in You.  I can never forget that You are The Most High God, who knows all things, is all powerful, is my perfect moral leader, loves me unconditionally and is the unstoppable one to whom nothing is impossible.  When in doubt, I have Your Scriptures to give me hope for a better ending.  When I hang my head, it is You who comforts and encourages me.  Regardless of what my eyes try to tell me, my heart tells me You are My Omnipotent Lord.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!
