O Great Encourager, when things do not go well for me, I need Your comfort and guidance to help me through my struggles. In order to get through those trying and difficult times, I must adapt to changes that will improve my outlook and give me hope for a better tomorrow. I must strive to blank out old memories, abandon bad habits and change the way I think and act. Only when I’ve been freed from the oppressive weight of disappointments and failures can I move on to the good things that await me. I must remain steadfast … trusting that You go before me … believing that You will stand with me … and, knowing You will not take my requests lightly. I should never become discouraged by what I face because You have said the battle is not mine … but Yours. Each day as I face battles with temptation and circumstances, I can never minimize the importance of Your standing with me through all things.
When facing discouragement, I must become like the eagle. For when it is raining, the eagle does not immediately look for shelter … it soars above the rain clouds to avoid the rain. If I will strive to get on top of my problems, rather than letting them pile on and crush me, my life will be filled with more cheer and hope for positive outcomes. In order to see a path forward, I need a clear and focused line of sight to You. Through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, I can gain a better perspective … find meaning for what I am going through … and, see Your purpose for my life. In order to be successful, I need to become strong and courageous because the road ahead is not easy. If I am willing to obey Your commands and believe that You want to help me, I will be empowered to achieve things I once thought were impossible. As I read and study Your Word, I’m sure I will find nuggets of truth to guide me.
I should never become discouraged or fearful regardless of the size of the obstacles I face. In searching Your heart and Your Word, I am confident that I will find the security, strength and peace of mind I need to attain the prize set before me. If I ignore Your will, anything I attempt to build will collapse if You are not a part of it. With Your help, I can overcome any obstacle placed before me. I need to trust that You have a plan for my life and it may involve some trying times. I must never relinquish a place for fear to take hold because You promised to be with me and guide me going forward. My focus needs to be on the things You’ve done for me in the past, to prove Your faithfulness, so I can believe You will move heaven and earth to help me now. With You involved, I can only lose if I give up. That is why I want to learn the way to overcome hopelessness and discouragement. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
