Most Valiant Savior, You have cautioned me to be serious and vigilant because I have an enemy who stalks around with stealth seeking anyone he can entrap and ensnare. You’ve command me to resist his enticements and hold my ground by standing on my faith. You have promised that if I make my stand using Your name and Your power, he must flee. I know that I can never win any battle with evil by standing on my strength alone … instead, I must rely on Your strength. I must also concede that my struggle is not against my fellow man, but against principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness of which I cannot prevail apart from You. To be successful, I must pray regularly … remain attentive to every thought that enters my mind … and put forth my best efforts to stand on the high ground of Your truths and promises.
I can never allow myself to succumb to the Devil’s taunting regarding my weaknesses and inability to persevere in doing what is right. What I must remember is the fact that You have declared that I am complete in You and have been destined to be an overcomer. Through Your death and resurrection, You disarmed the power of sin to control me and You’ve set me free to do Your will with my life. Your blood has washed me clean and, through the remission for my sins, the Devil has no right to be my Accuser. You have warned me to test everything I hear because there will always be false prophets and those who would lead me away from my faith in You. I cannot neglect the help of the Holy Spirit in validating everything I hear with the teachings in Your Word. I must become sensitive to the fact that everything that tries to invalidate You and Your Word is meant to take me off my game.
As Your child, I rely on Your help in overcoming the forces of evil because You have assured me that greater are You who dwells within me than any force I face in the world. You have endued me with the power to resist and overcome the forces of evil that try to take control of my life. By emulating Your life, I eliminate the formation of footholds that the enemy can use to take control of my life and pervert my thinking and actions. I have learned that even though I walk in the flesh, my battles with evil are not in the flesh. For the weapons of my warfare are not carnal, but spiritual for pulling down of strongholds, casting down of false doctrines and resisting anything that exalts itself against my knowledge of You. I am confident in You as my fortress and place of safety. Therefore, I have the assurance that because of my faith in You and Your Word, I will overcome the Wicked One. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
