Ransomed for a Reason

O Christ My Redeemer, before You came into my life I was lost, without hope and had real purpose.  I was born under the yoke of sin and eternal death.  I needed someone to pay the price required to set me free.  My need was desperate because I was powerless to do it myself.  You alone possessed the power to redeem my soul.  My ransom had to be paid with a perfect sacrifice.  In times past, the blood of spotless and perfect lambs and birds were sacrificed to cleanse Your people annually but they were not lasting.  The sacrifice You made is permanent and eternal because the blood You shed to redeem me was perfect and untainted by sin.  Having been bought with a price, I must now honor You with my life.  I can no longer let the desires of my flesh and the vain babblings of men become my masters.  As My True Master, I must not violate Your standards for living and I am obligated to serve You faithfully.

For many years I labored in darkness and longed for truth.  Because of my yearnings, You sent Your Spirit to draw me to Yourself and call me into Your service.  It is You alone who has the power to set me free and give me a holy purpose.  In a troubled world, longing for peace … You have come offering safety and hope.  My feelings of despair have been replaced by Your promises to fill my life with good and stand with me in all things.  When I hunger and thirst for more of You, You satisfy me in our times together in prayer or the reading of Your Word.  You are the bread of life who sustains me and as I consume every word that you speak, I’m becoming more and more like You.  When I feel like I have no place to turn or no one to turn to, Your Spirit reminds me that You are with me always … sheltering me from harm and guiding me to places of peace and rest.  My life’s goal has become to share Your love with others.

As one who has been bought with a price, I want to make You proud of what I’m doing with my life.  In the way that You are unchanging, I want to be perpetually changing to become more like You.  I want to practice Your kind of patience and good judgement.  Because of my humanness, I could not escape from the hold of sin and death on my own … I needed Your intervention.  Because of Your undying love, a perfect and final sacrifice for my ransom, and all of mankind, has been made.  In appreciation for Your showing me mercy, I want to live my life dedicated to You and serving others.  I make it a point each day to make everything I say or do bring You honor.  I feel truly blessed to know that You have redeemed me and made me whole again.  Because You gave Your life to save me and committed Yourself to stand with me, I know that I’ve been ransomed for a purpose.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

I Corinthians 6:19-20 … You are not your own; you were bought with a price.  Therefore, honor God with your body.
