Sanctified, Preserved and Called

Most Loving God, as Your child, I’ve been sanctified, preserved and called.  In sanctification, I’ve been separated from the world and my fleshly yearnings and dedicated in service to You.  As I immerse my life in Yours and devote time to the study of Your Word, I am becoming aware of what a blessing it is to have dedicated myself to You.  If I want to live for You, I cannot cavort with the trappings of the world or the evil yearnings of my flesh.  Sanctification requires that I become pure in my thoughts, words and actions.  In the same way that You were holy and separated Yourself from evil, so must I be willing to do the same.  It involves a spiritual cleansing and a commitment to do whatever You ask me to do.  As a result, my cry must become “purge me, O Lord, so I will be cleansed.  Create in me a new heart like Yours.”    As I spend time with You and obey Your instructions, I will become “one who is sanctified.”

When You promised to preserve me, You were pledging to watch over me and protect me from evil.  The special attention You give to me is so that my “whole spirit, soul and body will be preserved blameless until You come again.”  My protection is closely aligned with my obligation to guard against disobedience and rebellion.  Your watchfulness helps me feel confident as I tackle the issues and struggles of each day.  It is reassuring to know that You have my back and anything I face has a purpose in my development into a “faithful servant”.  I feel safe because You have built a hedge of protection around me to keep my enemies at bay.  When oppressed or feeling weak, it is comforting to know I can always run to You.  I am thankful that You never sleep and are always aware of what is going on in my life so that I do not stumble into the traps set to ensnare me or wander off Your intended path.

My sanctification and preservation come with a calling.  Your Word tells me I’ve been “called for a purpose.”  That means You have a role for me to fill and a race to run.  You expressed Your purpose for my calling when You said I was a part of “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people that show forth the praise of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.”  What I must never lose sight of is that I have a purpose on this earth.  My calling means that I have a direct line to you for my needs, direction and comfort.  It calls me to be helpful to others as they go through their struggles.  As a consequence, I must become a “prayer warrior” linking the problem to the answer.  Your calling has opened the doors of Your storehouse to meet my needs.  I accept the fact that as a result of being sanctified, preserved and called I am very special to You.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Jude 1:1-2 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called; may mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.
