Dear Loving Savior, I thank You for calling me to come and be Your own. I heard Your call from deep within my heart and knew I should give myself to You. I want to be able to escape the distractions of life and make time to be with You. My desire is to allow You to work in my life and attain the goals You have in mind for me. As I learn to trust You more, it will become easier to navigate life successfully. Open my heart, mind and spirit to the wisdom and guidance You yearn to share with me. I must be able to surrender myself to the Holy Spirit in order for Him to become my teacher and show me the ways of becoming more like You. I must slow down the demands on my life in order to be still and wait patiently for Your guidance. Set me free from my struggles and burdens so I can find rest and renew my strength. Create in me the will to read Your Word and seek out their meaning for my life.
As I go about each day, I want to be able to acknowledge the good things and good people You’ve placed in my life. I want to be able to gaze into the sky, look out upon the oceans, see the beauty of the mountains and plains … and, envision Your creative touch in making them all. I want to be able to openly share with others the things that You’ve taught me and done for me. I want to lead an active life, doing Your will … not mine. I want to be about the work of Your Kingdom, but You need to show me how and when. As I spend time in devotion to You, help me understand the depth of Your unselfish love … Your compassion for those who stumble through their lives … Your ability to suffer quietly, forgiving those who wished to do you harm … and, Your courage to do whatever needed to be done regardless of the cost. Help me live the life to which I’ve been called … as You did Yours, for the benefit of others.
You came to show me a better way, so help me be responsive to Your call. I do not want to become comfortable with my life here on earth … for I know that it is only a stopping off place on my way to eternity. Show me how to make the most of my time and help me strike a balance between my job and family responsibilities, being a good citizen, taking time to unwind, spending time with You and doing the work of the Kingdom. I am blessed to have been given a free will, but I do not want to use it being rebellious or doing my own thing. I want to surrender myself to You and do everything I can to please You. I am sometimes slow in hearing and obeying Your commands, so be patient with me but do not allow me to become distracted or slothful. Your goals are what I seek to know and my desire is to do, be and become whatever You require of me. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
I John 2:5-6 This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as he did.
