O Fountain of Wisdom, I acknowledge You as the source of all good things and the one who sustains my life. Without Your help, I struggle to hang on and maintain balance in my life. It seems that the Devil is ever-present and has laid out traps to ensnare me. The world offers seductions that play on my weaknesses and fallen nature. Life itself is filled with struggles and adversity which sap my strength. Difficulties and trials come upon me like powerful winds driving me away from You. I am resented by men because of my faith in You and governments of men stretch forth their tentacles to drown me with their burdens. Peace evades me and fear stalks me day and night. I wander aimlessly through life with no rudder or sail to take me to a safe harbor. Worry and doubt torment me endlessly and cause me to lose hope. Where can I go to escape my tormentors? How will I find my way back to You ?
Then I am reminded that if I seek Your joy, my strength will be renewed. As I take the necessary steps to replace fear with faith, my way becomes clearer and I am able to stand my ground against my enemies. You have promised me that what seems impossible to accomplish is in fact doable, if only I will believe. When I feel parched and dry, I know that I can find refreshing through the Holy Spirit who produces rivers of living water to refresh my soul. To act as an antidote for my waning hope, I am reminded that no weapon formed against me can prevail and You will never allow me to be tested in a way that is greater than what I can handle. In Your Wisdom, You have drawn up plans of escape to help me evade my trials when I cannot deal with them. I know I can rest in the assurance that You’ve got my back and will help me in overcoming the obstacles I face.
In response to my groaning, You answer … “Have I not provided You with principles and concepts that you need for a victorious life in my Word? Have I not given You the Holy Spirit to teach you how to walk in My ways with conviction and dedication? Have I not provided you with testing to develop your courage and perseverance and the know-how to solve the complex issues in your life? Do I not walk with you daily providing encouragement through the reading of My Word, thoughtful meditation and speaking directly to your heart? Have I not included you as a member of My family who will be there in your times of need? Have I not changed your diet from milk to meat so that you can grow and mature in faith? So stand up My child, on your own two feet, so that I with great pride can say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
