Taking On My Role As A Servant

O Saving Lord, death and sorrow are the world’s dark curtain, but the light You give burns eternal giving life and hope.  Where I once saw storm clouds forming on the horizon, I feel Your mighty, rushing wind uplifting me and causing the clouds to part.  Knowing that You are faithfully standing with me brings lasting peace to my heart.  I never conceived my life being filled with so much joy as it is filled with today.  I know that the blessings I am experiencing, along with the hope and joy I am feeling, are marvelous gifts from You.  Because You passed Your test and have gone to be with Your Father, I am confident that, I too, will be able to run my race successfully and join You at Your banqueting table.  I want my life to become a mirror of Your life … love the things that You love … and do the things that You would do.  You are mine and I am Yours … may we always be one.

Purge me and cleanse me so I can become white as snow.  My desire is that my will comes into alignment with Yours so that we can become one.  I want to do what You want me to do and endure what You want me to endure so I can become what You call a “good and faithful servant.”  My goal is   to become Your living will so that my self-centeredness and selfishness will melt away into an unconditional, loving heart like Yours.  Rather than wanting to be served, I want to learn how to serve.    I do not want to lose sight of the fact that everything I have comes from You and was given to me to invest in Your Kingdom.  I want to become aglow with Your love and be able to pour it out like molten gold into a mold and become something beautiful to behold.  As You have done for me, I want to do for You … giving out hope and encouragement to those who are lost and hurting.

I pledge to respond whenever You call, My Lord.  The voice that beckons me to You and Your service.  When I listen for it, my discouragement and worry seem to flee away.  I am confident that You hear my cries and know exactly where I am at all times.  Because I’ve given myself to You completely, I want to be hope for the hopeless … eyes for those who cannot see You … a lamp for those who have lost their way … and a place of refuge for those who are fleeing calamity.  Give me strength for my despairing heart and help me share it with others in need.  In the same way that You’ve healed me, help me bring Your healing balm to those who are in pain.  I want to cling to Your Word and make it a part of my life … and, in so doing, it will become the fruit of my lips that unshackle the captives and sets them free.  O how good it is to take my place as a servant of the Risen King!!  And in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Psalm 84:10 Better is one day in Your court than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
