The Character of God

My Righteous King, in sports the shrill of a whistle stops all action on the court or field. Rules, fouls, and penalties are a part of any game and referees enforce the rules vigorously. The rules have been established to determine what is good/acceptable vs bad/offensive. You have made rules for living which have been established for the betterment of all mankind. When I flaunt those rules and do my own thing, You declare those violations as sins. Sometimes I see people violate Your laws and no fouls are called. The truth is that ultimately justice will be served and You will settle all accounts. Because You are slow to anger does not mean You do not care. You are simply giving people time to repent and seek Your mercy. Your Word tells me that You will not let sin go unpunished. When I wonder why You do not punish evil immediately, all I need to do is reflect on the fact that if you did I would not be here.

You are always good to me and have become my refuge in times of trouble. You care for me because I’ve committed my life to You and live according to Your laws. I am a beneficiary of Your having broken the hold that sin had on my life and shown me a better way. You have given me a mission to add meaning to my life and You’ve prepared a place for me with You in eternity. I know that You are a just and fair judge who will execute judgement on those who defy Your calling. You who control the sun, the stars, and the vast stretches beyond will always make time for me whenever I have a need or just want to pour out my heart to You. Natural life has its comings and goings, but You will live forever and You want to share that life with me. Because of my love for You, Your mercy is my refuge … Your supply is unending … and my life is filled with abundance.

The relationship I have with You is up to me. You are always waiting for me to call upon You and Your eyes watch over me night and day to protect me from harm. Any affliction I suffer will only be for a short time because You will drive away my enemies. Anyone who remains arrogant and resists Your authority will live to regret it. When trouble presses in, You alone are the one who can deliver me from it. I must place my confidence in You because You rule over the heavens and the earth and my life too. I find great comfort in knowing that You are in control. I must remain aware of what is going on around me so I am not drawn away from You. Your desire is for me to give my devotion and love to You freely. No power on earth can be a suitable substitute for Your involvement in my life. You gave me a free will to keep You number One in my life. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

John 14:17 The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.
