These Things I Hold to Be True (A Believer’s Creed)

Dear Lord, You have brought me from the brink of disaster many times and taught me invaluable lessons throughout my life.  What I have learned and what I carry in my heart are timeless truths that have helped me succeed and formed the foundation for my future.  Some of those truths that I hold dear are…

  1. When I am controlled by my passions, I will not receive what I ask for because I ask with improper motives.
  2. As I cling to the things of the earth, I make myself an enemy of the cross and lose the benefits of Your grace and forgiveness.
  3. Victory, in my life, requires submitting my will to You; resisting the devil; and, drawing closer to You through the reading and study of Your Word.
  4. As I put the things in my life in Your hands and allow myself to be guided by You, joy will abound in my life and I will be prosperous.  If I follow after evil, I will bear the bitter fruit of sadness and poverty.
  5. Whenever I do good, I am building a Heavenly Bank Account from which I can request withdrawals of blessing and grace in times of need.
  6. Whenever I undergo trials and trouble, I must submit my needs to You in prayer … and allow my brothers and sisters to be Your vessels of supply.  For in their acts of kindness, I experienced Your love.
  7. Whenever I help one of Your lost lambs return to the fold, the angels in heaven rejoice and a multitude of my sins are covered by Your grace.
  8. Through Baptism and the surrender of my life to You, I am granted new life which brings with it a vast inheritance of blessings and grace.  My new birth comes from an imperishable seed and I am destined for eternal life.
  9. When I suffer trials and persevere through them, I know I come through the test more perfected and purer than finest gold.
  10. To be a successful Christian, I must gird myself for battle, just as a soldier prepares for war.  I must live soberly and keep my focus on You.  I must be attentive to Your voice.  As I do, I will find myself becoming more like You.

I am grateful for Your lessons of life and unending mercies.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!
