I praise You, My Lord, the maker and keeper of my days. You know my strengths, talents and weaknesses. Each day I am faced with the challenge of being holy and walking uprightly in Your ways or courting evil and stumbling under the weight of my sins. I am thankful that You have given me the Holy Spirit to guide, counsel and comfort me. I believe that Your provision stands ready to meet my needs. When I lack the will and conviction to follow through with something that is important to my life, You become involved to help me both will and do Your good pleasure. If I encounter an obstacle too great to overcome in my strength, I trust that You will show me a way of escape. Why then, do I get entangled in the trials, circumstances and requirements of my daily life?
Troubles and struggles inhibit my ability to do what is right. In the ensuing commotion, my energy wanes, my hope fades and I lose my perspective and focus. Help me rebuild my life on the firm foundation of You and Your love. When I become selfish or fail to consider the needs of others, fill me with Your loving compassion. When my future seem bleak and things are not going my way, stir up You joy within me the strength to persevere. When I am anxious, restless and concerned, infuse me with Your peace. When my life feels out of control and I become agitated or upset, draw me into Your long-suffering patience. When I notice someone who needs a loving gesture or a word of encouragement, create in me the desire to reach out to them. In difficult times, when fear and worry encamp around me, renew in me the trust that allows me to listen to Your words and act on them with confidence. When harsh words and abusive language dominate my moods, help me seek Your peace so that the words I speak will be spoken in truth with love.
Yes Lord, You do know me well. You’ve numbered the hairs on my head and my days on the earth. You watch over me in order to keep me safe. Help me never forget that … I am nothing without You … I am weak, but You are strong … when I repent, You restore me … and, when my faith is battered, You give me the will to press on. In facing the struggles with my enemies, I know that You provide the armor for me to use to protect myself. When I am drawn off the straight path, it is comforting to know that You will send the Holy Spirit to guide back to safety. If my hope fails, Your Word tells me that You can turn my impossibility into Your possibility … if I will believe. I never feel alone because of Your promise to never leave or forsake me. I find my days filling with victories because when you stand with me … no one can stand against me. I am content in the knowledge that You are faithful in all of Your ways. It is for this reason that I know I can count on You as the keeper of my days. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
