Dear Lord, I find it hard to sometimes understand what You are trying to tell me because as You have stated “My thoughts are not your thoughts nor are your ways My ways … My ways are higher than Your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Yet I know that if I pursue Your wisdom and knowledge it will come to me like water flowing down a mountainside … over taking me and engulfing me. I trust You will perfect in me the things that I need to grow into the stature of the person You want me to be. You are not a stingy God, so I am confident that You will impart to me the things I need to know to walk uprightly and be successful. What I do understand is that when something is not clear, I must wait on Your directions, maintain my hopefulness and trust that You will help me through my struggles.
In order to begin thinking like You, I must no longer allow my thoughts and actions to be conformed to the patterns of the world and, instead, allow You to transform and renew my thinking so I can walk in unison with You. Only then will I be able to test and confirm what is Your good and perfect will. Through the transformation process, I will be taught how to live a life that honors You and is obedient to Your commands. Because You want only what is best for me and because You gave Your life for me, I must joyfully give myself to You so I can be changed into Your image. As a result of my fallen nature and my selfish, depraved behaviors, I must allow myself to be shown a better way and become conformed to it. This kind of change is very hard and challenging because old habits die hard … but, with Your help and guidance, I know I can be change.
My success in understanding Your ways depends on the textbook I use and the teacher I listen to. I am thankful that You’ve left me a road map for living the way You did. Your Word is alive … speaking to me and revealing the truth I need to know. It’s amazing to think that everything You want me to do is captured in the pages of The Scriptures. In those pages are the things I need to know in order to succeed and be victorious. Not only have You provided me with a text, but You’ve left me a Teacher who will help me glean what I need to know and how to apply it. In the past, when I searched for answers, I only could see clouds of confusion … however, since the Spirit has been given to me, He has brought the light and illumination I need to understand the things of The Most High. In Your wisdom, I believe that You will provide me with the information I need as I need it. This is why I am confident that I will be able to understand Your ways in whatever circumstances I find myself. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
