Most Understanding Lord, even the most willing person sometimes struggles with waiting patiently for an answer to a prayer or direction for their life. In such times, I know that I must wait … but do it in prayer. As my God, I am confident that Your timing will always be right, and You will act at just the right moment to fulfill Your promise or provide the solution I need. I, like the rest of my brothers and sisters, want things right now. Waiting is not something that comes easily and, doing it patiently, is really a stretch for me. I know that the ability to wait patiently requires a deep and abiding trust in You and Your Word. To attain that level of intimacy requires a lot of trust and to achieve it I must … live in accordance with Your will … please You in every way … bear much fruit … grow in my knowledge of You … and, become strengthened in Your might.
You have promised that when I wait and do not lose hope, You will invigorate me with Your strength so I do not become weary as I wait for Your response. I only become a loser when I get ahead of You trying to do things on my own. As a believer, I must be willing to accept Your answer on Your timing and not mine. As I focus on the promises spoken to me through Your Scriptures, I am filled with optimism and am enabled to stay put and await Your answer to my request. I must learn to rely on Your assurances of love and commitment to my well-being. Until I get a clear sign from You, I must restrain my instincts from doing anything until You have instructed me to act. In such matters, I must rely on Your peace to settle and calm my emotions. Lagging, in this case, is not a sign of weakness, rather of strength, because it is easier to charge off on my own rather than wait on You.
When I am calm and settled, my emotions cannot rob me of the victories You’ve planned. As I submit to Your will, discouragement and hopelessness are pushed aside by patience. Patience involves my ability to endure … believing without seeing … trusting without physical evidence … and standing steadfast when the ground below me is shaking. If I restrain myself from becoming conformed to the ways of the world and set out to renew my mind (through reading and meditating on Your Word), being patient will become natural to me. During the times when I’m waiting for an answer, if I keep active in the work of Your Kingdom, I will hardly notice the passage of time. To be victorious, I must remove everything that hinders me and the sin that so easily entangles me … thereby ensuring success. Therefore, it is important to learn how to wait patiently for Your instructions. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
Daniel 12:12 Blessed is the one who waits.
