Most Merciful Jesus, I live in the shadow of constant danger over which I have no control. My circumstances are like a provoked and angry giant who awakens from a slumber to agitate me and invade my space with chaos and bad outcomes. During these times, I long for Your protection, shelter and wisdom in dealing with them. Spare me from the heartaches and stress that come with my troubles. I know that I am at fault for the way I feel because I do not handle my problems and circumstances appropriately. My mistakes have caused me wounds that take a long time to heal and leave lasting scars. Save me, Lord, from the calamities that fill my life when my faith is weak and I fail to turn to You for help. I am so thankful in knowing that, if I come to You in humility, I can count on Your help to whether my storms.
I have many reasons to seek Your counsel when troubles close in on me. It may be because I am confused and frustrate and just want You to provide a way out … or, I’m uncomfortable and just want my troubles to go away … or, I want to maintain a persona of “being the solid rock” in spite of my circumstances … or, I realize my own inadequacies in dealing with them. When my troubles come in like a monster trying to devour me, I am filled with feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. I know that adversity is easier to accept when my relationship with You is strong. The courage I possess comes from my knowledge that You will protect me. You alone are my stronghold in time of trouble. No matter what I face, I am confident that You have the power and will to deliver me. Your intent is not to be a temporary retreat, but my perpetual refuge who provides me with strength and security when I need it.
Open my eyes so I will turn from darkness and confusion into Your light which helps me find the better way. My enemies work tirelessly to exhaust me and cause me to lose hope. Their tools are the troubles and calamities that disturb my peace and positive outlook. I rejoice in the fact that I am an heir to Your power and blessings. You make them available to me so I can overcome my problems and give You the glory. You are my refuge in times of trouble and I know You will never forsake those who come to You. As a consequence, I trust that You will stand with me no matter what I face. In my days of trouble, You will keep me safe and hide me from those who want to do me harm. In the tenderness of Your love, I know You have seen my affliction and feel the anguish in my heart. That is why, when trouble comes knocking, I know to whom I must run. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
