Come to My Aid

O Mighty Defender, being a doer of Your will often means waiting patiently for Your response in my times of need. I know in my heart that You are faithful and listen to the cries of Your people. Waiting for Your help is not always easy but does bring about the relief I need. Knowing You will be there for me means I have solid ground on which to stand while I wait … lifts me out of my despair … and provides the hope I need to persevere. Whenever I slip or fall, You are there to pick me up, steady me and point me in the right direction. You are the strong, solid Rock upon which I can stand when everything around me is shaking. And, when You make me victorious, others can see it and are drawn to You. I am so blessed because I have put my trust in You. Many are the wonders You have done for men throughout the ages and Your desire to help Your own has not waned.

With great pride I can proclaim the many deeds You’ve done to benefit my life. I cannot say enough about Your faithfulness in my times of need and the unconditional love You show to me. I do not recall a single time when I’ve called out to You for help and You did not respond. When troubles surround me, temptations come to overtake me, and I cannot see my way out … I cry out for Your help and You are always there. In my hopelessness and despair, I seek Your aid and You are always able to rescue me. When I cry out for You to come quickly, You always find a way. My heart’s request is that You turn back those who want to bring me shame, or surround me with confusion, or bring about disgrace and ruin to me and my family. In Your response, I know I will be able to rejoice in the fact that I serve a Mighty God. May You always be exalted for all that You do on behalf of Your people.

When I feel the impact of Your love and faithfulness in my life, I cannot help but rejoice and be glad. I know what a special blessing it is to serve a God who loves and accepts me even when I am not lovable. You are faithful because You keep Your promises and do not go back on them as men do. Your commitment to me is undergirded in unconditional love which is a part of Your nature. I am thankful that Your love is absolute and Your promises irrevocable. I am amazed (but I shouldn’t be) that You continue to love me even when I reject Your will and sin. You keep Your promises even when I do not keep mine. You are always receptive to a repentant heart that seeks to return to You. It pleases You when I see the error of my ways and want our relationship restored. Because of these many things I am confident You will respond whenever I come to You for help. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Psalm 40:17 I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my helper and deliverer; O my God, do not delay.
