Deliver me, O God, for I am continually facing forces who are dedicated to the destruction of my confidence, faith, peace and security. I am counting on You to rescue me from their clutches. They are relentless and evil … like depression, that slips in like a fog surrounding me with a heaviness that smothers my will to resist … or hopelessness, which catches me in its web and I thrash about thinking there is no way of escape … or adversity, who stretches out its tentacles to pull me under and rob me of my liberty … or confusion, which rushes in like a storm turning everything I believe on its head and drowning me in despair … or fear, which charges in like an armed warrior taking me hostage and robbing me of my future … or weariness, which sucks away my strength leaving me totally helpless and vulnerable. I feel as though I am a prey about to be devoured by forces greater than me. I want to flee to safety, but where will I go?
And then I remember that it is You who is my strong defense in times of trouble. It is Your strength and might that has set me free from the hold of my enemies. It is Your light that shines into my darkness guiding me to safety. When I have no place to run, it is You who gives me cover and a place to hide. It is You who hoists me on His shoulders and carries me when my strength fades and my resolve grows weak. It is Your shield that turns away the fiery darts of my enemies who plotted evil against me. You alone possess the power to vanquish my enemies and restore my strength. Rescue me, O Lord, and place me in a high tower where I am safe and free from my tormenters. Uphold me by Your power and infuse me with hope. You have made a place for me in Your heart and I know I can dwell there in safety. I give You praise for delivering me from my past so that I might walk in liberty and newness of life.
You are my Protector and Defender in times of trials and struggles. In Your unfailing love, You lead me to places of refuge and guide me into holiness. You guard me with Your powerful right arm … You silence the wicked … and, You cause me to prevail. Through my faith in You, my way is made clear and You keep me from undergoing tests that are greater than I can stand. It is through the wisdom and direction of the Holy Spirit that I am armed for battle against those who try to block my way. As I look to You and seek direction, You make known to me Your ways and Your will for my life. In my times with You, I find the power and joy to run the race You have chosen for me. What You know is profound and Your power vast … who can resist us when we stand together? You have performed wonders that cannot be fathomed and miracles too numerous to count. To You belongs all wisdom, power and love so that’s why I know that You will deliver me from all harm. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
