Most Understanding God, often I feel frustrated because of the uncertainty I feel in my life. I cry out to You and hear no response. I feel like screaming … “What more do You want me to do?” I call out and I am seemingly talking to myself. I try to do something good with my life, but I do not feel You are there for me … for if You were, You would surely respond to my pleas. So, I begin to question whether I’m on the right track or how I could have missed Your response? As I drift in no man’s land, I remember the Old Testament story of Your visit with Moses in the form of a burning bush while he tended sheep in the wilderness. He was away from his homeland … yet You found him and showed Yourself to him … and communed with him in a way he clearly understood. This story from Your Word reminds me that no matter where I am … You know where to find me … and You are powerful enough to do whatever it takes to meet my need.
As I get past my confusion regarding Your hearing my prayers and responding to them, I begin to realize that You alone possess the power to intercede on my behalf and that You are not shy about responding to me. I must never forget that You are the God of the impossible and You have shown me, over time, the abundance of Your love and concern for me. If I ever have any questions about that, I need only reflect on Your passion. Unlike the people I share my life with, You are dependable at all times and in all things. I must come to grips with the fact that there are things I can do to change my circumstances and there are things I cannot do. The ones I can, I should be actively pursuing and, those I cannot, I should ask for Your help. Within You resides all power and might and I should not be trying to do what only You can do. I must accept the fact that You are willing and able to act on my behalf.
Whenever the Devil comes to rob me of my joy, steal my hope or kill my faith, help me see Your awesomeness and power in … the clouds and stars that fill the heavens which are too vast to even imagine … or contemplate the depths of the oceans filled with the water I need to survive … or look upon the towering mountains with their ice capped peaks and jagged surfaces … or see my newborn child, formed perfectly in my image, and not marvel over the gift of life You have given me and my spouse … or watch a life transformed when You enter it and the Holy Spirit is unleashed to champion a process of transformation … or consider the awesome mind that designed the human body and every living thing that lives on the land or in the sea. All of these things prove to me over and over again that You are able to do immeasurably more that I can ask or imagine. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work in us, to Him be glory …
