Most Generous Lord, after You ascended into Heaven, Your disciples prayed for “the promise of the Father (the Holy Spirit).” He came down to us on Pentecost to begin His mission on earth … to console, teach and guide Your people. The Holy Spirit is a “Helper” I can trust and follow. As I submit to the Him in humility, I cannot forget the glory of the complete Trinity, in accepting Him as a gift from above. It was by the power of the Holy Spirit that You were raised from the dead to save me. Through the grace and miracle-working power of the Holy Spirit (poured out in Your name), I am given the assurance of Your love and commitment to me. Through “the gift of the Spirit”, I have Your protection from the influences and attacks of evil. My desire is for the Holy Spirit to create in me a spirit as pure and loving as Yours. To be transformed, I must cooperate with Him in learning the ways in which You walked.
Increase in me the virtue of charity so I might become a beacon of Your light shining into a lost and dying world. The charity You displayed is only made possible in my life by the power of the Holy Spirit working in me. I want to learn to love as You loved and serve as You served … with selflessness and compassion. Enkindle in me, Sweet Holy Spirit, a burning desire to love and standby those who have a need for a Savior in their lives. Help me truly repent of my sins and wash me with the “Blood of the Lamb” so I might become white as snow. Through His instruction, regarding the Holy Scriptures, impart to me the wisdom and comfort they are intended to give. Through the empowerment of the Spirit, I know I can become an integral part of Your Kingdom. Through the power and persistence of the Holy Spirit, I believe that the earth can be renewed to show forth Your goodness and mercy.
In my natural mind, I do not know enough about You and Your ways to be an effective minister of Your love. Through the Holy Spirit, open my eyes that I might see and understand how much You mean to the life of every Believer. Open my ears so that I might hear the mysteries of all time revealed in a way I can understand. I believe, with all my heart, that You left “the gift of the Holy Spirit” to help me fulfill the mission You have for my life. If I allow Him to come into my heart and seek His guidance with all diligence, I know I can be conformed into Your image and likeness. I must accept Him as my “Helper” and not ignore the guidance He wants to give me. Because the Spirit is God, He is all-powerful and all-knowing. That’s why I say, come sweet Spirit and fill my life. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
