Justice For All

Most Just God, whether I express it or not, there is a deep sense of justice that resides in me. When I see something unjust being done to another, who I believe is innocent, it is hard for me to forgive the oppressor. Something inside of me wants to see justice for everyone. The Bible tells me that You are a God of justice. I believe that my desire to see justice comes from being made in Your image and likeness. Your life was filled with examples of justice for others … justice for the poor, justice for those falsely accused, justice for the exploited, etc. If I see an injustice, I can rest in the knowledge that You will act justly and will have the final say in how justice is meted out. I believe You will exact vengeance on those who do evil to others. As a follower, I must trust in Your ability to act justly in all situations and extract justice in Your perfect timing. “Justice is mine” says the Lord and I must honor that.

I know that You do not judge based on appearance nor make judgements based on hearsay for Your justice is based on facts and nothing can be hidden from You. You wear righteousness and truth as “justice robes” and never betray the truth. I believe that You are steadfast in securing justice for all and upholding the cause of us all. Righteousness and justice make up the strong foundation upon which You have built Your kingdom. No sin will go unpunished, and no justice goes unexecuted. You have instructed me to not undertake vengeance on my own because You have said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” Your call on my life is to learn to do good; seek fair treatment for all; help those who are oppressed; and plead the case for those who have no one to plead it for them. My role is to show forgiveness and let You take care of any injustices.

I feel safe in a world where You defend the needy, render fair decisions in resolving problems, and demonstrate Your love and fairness in dealing with everyone. Help me feel Your sense of justice for issues where people are being treated unfairly and show me how I can be used in correcting the situation. Help me understand that executing justice is not my job knowing You will handle it in Your timing. I know that I have committed offenses, injustices, wrongdoings and sins against You and others. I am thankful that You made things right by Your death on Calvary. Heal me from any injustices that drag me down and empower me to bring justice to those who need my help. Teach me how to embrace Your system of justice when I see injustices prevailing. I do not want my justice done for all, instead, Your justice done for all. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; love and faithfulness go before You.
