My Enduring Light, I give thanks for Your decision to come to earth to share the light of Heaven and show me the way to my final home. Shine into my heart so that darkness will have no place to hide, and I will see how to walk in Your ways. Your light chases out the dark shadows that strive to envelop and imprison me. Send Your light and truth to guide me in paths of righteousness and show me how to get to You through the darkness that fills the earth. Your truth is the source of the light I need to follow. It gives me a clear path forward. When surrounded with darkness and uncertainty, I must follow where Your light leads. To walk safely in the dark, I need Your light, so I do not trip and fall. It reveals the enticements, deceptions and entanglements of false values, philosophies, and teachings. By studying the Scriptures, I gather the wisdom and strength I need for my journey here on earth.
Your Word tells me that my eyes are the lamp of my body. The lamp is You and the eyes represent spiritual insight and understanding. The light You give off is spiritual and provides me with a capacity to see clearly what You want me to do and speak. But this spiritual insight can be easily clouded by self-serving motives, interests and goals that stand in the way of carrying out the plan that You have for my life. When evil is present in my life, it makes my eyes less sensitive to Your cues and blots out clear thinking. Whenever I face hard times, seeing You at work in my life is hard to do. In those times, I need to check and see what is blotting out Your light. Clear eyes are ones that are intently focused on You. As Your Word unfurls before my eyes, I know that I will be able to gain greater understanding and wisdom to deal with the things that come my way.
When the light of truth illuminates my life, it is my duty to share that light to help others. I should not keep the benefits of Your revelations to myself but share their bounty with others. That is why You cautioned me not to put my light under a basket. Therefore, I must remain attentive for situations where unbelievers need Your help, and I can use those opportunities to share Your light with them. I must strive each day to reflect Your light through the life I live. In becoming an effective witness for You, I must resist the temptation to put myself forward as “God’s Messenger” if my heart is far from You. What I need to share is “true” light and not “artificial” light. I must strive to show them how much better it is to live in the light rather than darkness. If I live in the light, I will glow like You, showing others who You are. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
John 1:3-4 Through Him all things were made; and without Him nothing was made. In Him was life and that life was the light of men. The light shined into the darkness, but the darkness did not understand it.
