Pray Without Ceasing

I thank You, O Keeper of My Soul, for the assurance that Your heart will always be open to me and my plight.  I’ve come to realize that one of the most powerful tool I have in my arsenal as a Christian is my ability to communicating with You in prayer.  I am often surprised when the answers to my prayers are greater or faster than I expected.  I hope that I will never use prayer as a last resort after everything else has failed.  Since Your power is infinitely greater than mine, I will rely on it and connect with it through prayer.  When I pray, I know You stand ready to answer me.  For if my heart belongs to You and I am willing to do Your will, You will hear my prayers and respond to my pleas.

You tell me in Your Word to pray without ceasing.  I think it is because it is a reflection of my willingness to submit to You as my source and a sign of my reliance on You for all my needs.  As a result of Your loving care, You want positive interaction between us.  As Your child, You want me to trust that You will do what You have promised to do.  I know that You do not lie and I can rely on Your integrity, fairness and justice in dealing with me.  As I pray, my sorrows and burdens are lifted from me and I feel renewed in Your strength.  In submitting to You in prayer, I experience the peace and joy of turning over my problems to You and watching as You make them fade away.  As You abide in me and I abide in You, I can be assured that You hear what I ask and answer me.

These things I have come to understand about prayer.  You listen to those who listen to You and obey Your commands.  Your Word reminds me that the fervent prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.  Your desire is for me to come to know You more intimately … because the closer I get to You, the stronger my love, trust and ability to pray open and honestly with You grow.  I must never get tired of pursuing You, My Bridegroom.  You are critical to my success in life and I want to feel the warmth of Your closeness with me always.  Help me never forget that faith is the key that opens the doors of heaven.  Without faith, my prayers are shallow and lack conviction.  I know that I cannot allow fear, doubt and worry to be a part of my prayer life because they hinder and drown out my cries.  Even when Your answer is “no” or “later”, I am reassured that You will always act in my best interest and deal with me fairly.  This is why I will always pray without ceasing.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

I Thessalonians 5:17 Be joyful always; pray without ceasing; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
