The Gift

Most Loving God, I am so thankful for Your gift of life.  Since the time of the earth’s creation, You’ve given life to every living thing upon it.  How fortunate I am to have been the beneficiary of Your desire to share Yourself with me and all of mankind.  I marvel at the vastness of Your wisdom that You possess and the plan by which You put together all of the organisms and systems that give me the ability to live and move and have my very being.  Every breath that I take … every day that I wake … every drop of blood that courses through my veins … every thought that I think …. every emotion that I feel  … are given to me through Your grace and mercy and are special gifts from You.  How generous You are to share Your very life with me and give me the chance to know You.  Within me You have placed special gifts that I am to use in service to You and others in whatever manner You call me to use them.

Probably the best gift that You’ve given me is the gift of Yourself.  For through Your suffering and death, I’ve become an adopted son … been given the gift of eternal life … sin is no longer my master … and, death has lost its sting.  How unselfish You are to have sacrificed Yourself in exchange for the penalties I owed for my sins.  Your suffering was enormous because the number of sins You had to cover was enormous.  As a result, fear and worry no longer control my life for … when I face circumstances beyond my capabilities, they get handled … when I stumble and strive to right myself again, I am offered a helping hand …  when evil approaches and sin reaches out its tentacles to ensnare me, I am surrounded by Your invincibility.  The way to eternal life is through You.  You are the Door … You are the Way … You are the Ransom … You are the One … You are the Sacrifice made for many.

Because of Your unquenchable love, You have opened the storehouse of Heaven to me.  As a result, my needs are met … my future is bright … the desires of my heart are fulfilled … and I have hope to sustain me.  In Your storehouse, I can find peace despite the storms in my life … joy to overcome the sadness of my failures and mistakes … love that is unconditional and accepting …  solutions to the problems that  come up in my life … perseverance when the answers to my prayers do not seem to come quick enough … a path that leads me out of darkness into light … grace which is showered upon me when I do not deserve it … family and friends who are there for me and encourage me when I feel sad or depressed.  You, My Lord, are the giver of good gifts and I will always praise You for each one of them.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
