Praise and honor is Yours, O Loving God, for when I trust You with all of my heart and do not walk in the ways of the world … my life is filled with Your goodness. If I rely on Your help and guidance, I know that my ways will prosper. The key to walking in Your will is my willingness and determination to accept what You ask of me whenever You ask. The sure way to determine if I am really a follower of Your will is if I’m willing to act on what Your Word tells me. Learning submission to You comes through knowing, believing and obeying what Your Word has to say. I must regard Your Word as a lamp that removes darkness from my thinking and shows me a better way. If I come to believe the precepts contained in Your Word, You will entrust me with the secrets of Your truth. To walk within Your will, I must be a good listener, pay attention to Your instructions and turn from my selfish ways.
A critical part of walking in Your will is to remain focused. As I become absorbed with the activities, decisions and responsibilities of life, it is harder to distinguish Your voice and hear Your instructions. I must remain open to the fact that You will not always approach me in ways that I prefer … but ones that produce the best results. When I am unsure about Your will, I must seek the Holy Spirit who remains close to You and bears witness with my spirit concerning Your will. In addition to the direction I get from Your Word, I’ve learned that You guide me through a small, inner voice that I recognize as being Yours. You sometimes guide me through the things I go through and the wisdom of other God-fearing believers. Sometimes what I observe, sense or feel are the things that guide me in walking in Your will. I know that nothing You say or ask of me conflicts with Your Word, so anything I do must line up with it.
I am convinced that You want me to know Your will so You can show how to be victorious. Learning to know You through Your Word, life’s experiences and the instruction of holy, anointed teachers will help me come to grips with Your expectations. By becoming intimate with You, I will sense what You want of me even before You ask. Life is like a puzzle that needs to be put together carefully so that each piece fits into the next to create a picture of what You have in mind for my life. Your will for me is no mystery unless I make it one. Through submission, faith, obedience and selflessness, my will is shaped into Yours … I move in harmony with You … and, in the direction You want me to go. My love for You, and recognition of all that You’ve done for me, makes me a motivated doer of Your will. Help me, O Lord, to better understand what is required to walk in Your ways. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
