Most Loving God, I have willingly given You my heart because my relationship with You means everything to me. You came down from Heaven to show me how to live my life, what I should use as building blocks for it and the path I should take to arrive at my desired destination. You have declared to me that You are the “Bread of Life”. When I think of bread, I think of being nourished and feeling full. When You came into the world, it was Your intent to nourish me spiritually and fill my life with Your goodness so that I might obtain a meaningful and eternally rewarding life. While natural food nourishes my natural body … the bread You offer is “soul food” … capable of reviving my spirit and sustaining it for eternity. You’ve invited me to eat of the “Bread of Life” through the Sacrament of Communion. By accepting Your invitation, I am renewed and I join Your family in a meal that draws us all into oneness.
You came to us to testify to the truth. You’ve said that true worshipers should worship You in spirit and in truth because this is the kind of worshiper You desire. Being a spirit, You are everywhere and I can worship You anywhere. I believe that worship is meaningful when it is genuine and heartfelt. If I hold fast to Your teachings, I will know the truth and it will set me free. You have set me apart for good, cleansed me from sin and made me holy by emersion in Your Word. In believing and obeying it, I succeed in overcoming evil and walk in Your ways. Daily application of Your truths are having a purifying effect on me. The purpose of truth is to point out my sins, motivate me to repent, renews my closeness to You and gets me back on track. If I accept Your truth, I am accepting the desires of Your heart. Through truth, You’ve come into my life to build a strong foundation by which I can stand against evil.
You’ve proclaimed to me that You are the “Light of the World” and, if I’d follow You, I would never walk in darkness but I’d have light to guide me. Your light shines into my life to show me the way to righteous living and walking uprightly. If I focus on godly things, my life will be filled with light and darkness will be driven out. In Your light, nothing is hidden that will not be exposed and nothing concealed that will not be made known. When I do evil, I show disdain for Your light because I do not want my deeds exposed. When I live by Your truths, light shines into my life so I can know what is Your will. The light You give assures me of Your presence, protection and guidance. As I learn to walk in Your light, I will not stumble or be led astray. So who are You? You are the bread that sustains me … the truth that provides a foundation for my life … and, the light that guides me in all of my ways. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
