O Patient and Benevolent God, stretch out Your hand and give me aid in my times of trouble. What man cannot do or will not do, I know You can. When I become burdened from my labors, there is no one there to relieve me, so I cry out to You and You lift my burdens from me. As a result, You are the light that has brought me out of the darkness and the shadow of hopelessness. You’ve broken the chains of my enemy, who sought to keep me in bondage, and You’ve replaced my chains with freedom. When I am full of anxiety, Your consolation brings me peace. There is none like You … filled with compassion … able to reach down and lift my spirit and change my circumstances … desirous to show me a better way … and, given to providing me with an inheritance I did not earn. You are the One who has rescued my life from hopelessness and distress … You are my Savior in every possible way.
Each day, I find myself surrounded by the pressures and demands of life. The only “true” relief I get comes from You. Troubles and anguish would overtake me, if it weren’t for You, my Protector and Deliverer. Your words offer me comfort and wisdom in dealing with problems and choices I must make. Because they contain the answers I need, I take delight in what You have to say and I think on them throughout my day and before I go to sleep. As I walk among the struggles and trials that fill my day, You stretch out Your hand to preserve me … even before I ask. It is Your strong arm that delivers me from my enemies and supplies the strength I need to persevere. I have every confidence that You will fulfill Your purpose in my life because You love me beyond measure. As a result of our relationship, I am able to pour out my complaints and grievances to You and know that I will receive a listening ear. I believe that You will help me find solutions and a way around any problem or difficulty I encounter.
I trust that You will always deal with me fairly and with pure motives. As I learn to walk in Your ways, You cover me with Your righteousness and guide me with the light of Your Gospel. Your paths are covered with mercy and goodness which are my rewards for keeping Your commandments and obeying Your statutes. You are able to help me when I do not resist the leading of the Holy Spirit and I listen to the things He has to say. I know that worry and fear will depart from my life if I submit to Your will and allow myself to be transformed into a “true” servant. I trust that as I am conformed into Your likeness … Your eyes will follow me wherever I go … Your power will be there to protect me … and, You will show me the way to peace and prosperity. That’s why, when I’m in distress, I’ll always turn to You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
Psalm 94:18-19 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” Your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought joy to my soul.
