Who Am I?

O Giver of Life, in answering the question “Who am I?” … I think about my many roles of spouse, parent, employee, friend … or my talents like organizing, encouraging, leading … or what I do as a volunteer, counsellor, spreader of the Good News.  But, in contemplating that question further, I’m beginning to realize there’s more to me than that … there’s who You say I am!!

I’m a figment of Your imagination into whom You’ve breathed life.

I’m a soul who’s been given the chance to know, love and serve You.

I’m a warrior, clothed in Your armor, sent to fight against the principalities and powers of darkness that come to enslave and lead astray the ignorant, weak and defenseless.

I’m a spirit, soul and body woven together in Your image and likeness who has been called to live out my life as a witness for You.

I’m a freed man, once enslaved by sin, death and my fallen nature, who has been emancipated through the shedding of Your precious blood.

I’m a fallen star who’s been given an inner glow that is to shine forth Your light into the darkness.

I’m a “new creation” who walks by faith and not by sight … who walks in the power of the Holy Spirit … and, who is the benefactor of Your many blessings.

I’m a “lively stone” used to build a spiritual house, a holy priest and a spiritual offering acceptable to You.

I’m no longer childish because I no longer talk as a child or think as a child or act as a child.  For when I became a man, I put away my childish ways.

I’m a Your “friend” because I believe in You and I strive to live my life in accordance with Your will.

I know I am loved and cherished because You listen to my cries, feel my every pain and infuse me with hope.  I feel Your presence with me throughout my day and that fills me with joy.  You catch me when I’m falling and You lift me from the rubble I’ve created with my life.  You’ve accepted my sin-stained life and cleansed it in Your blood so I can once again be whiter than snow.  And, as I’ve matured in my faith, I’ve come to realize that it’s not who I am, but who You are in me that really matters.  I am now able to see who I really am … I AM YOURS!!  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

I Corinthians 15:10 By God’s grace, I am what I am and His grace towards me is not without effect.
